About

Since 2009, Darryl Ohlenbusch AIA has led Design/Build studios as an an Associate Professor of Practice in the School of Architecture and Planning at UT San Antonio. Projects have been sponsored exclusively by non-profit or governmental organizations to emphasize the public service nature of the studio. Sponsoring organizations have included Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas, Opportunity Home San Antonio, Galveston Historical Foundation, the National Park Service, and Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife. Typically of a small scale, the projects have been located mostly in public parks and community gardens where shade, rain water harvesting and seating have been desired. Additionally, many of the structures have come to serve as symbolic centers for their neighborhoods, and host varied community events as a result.
